Thanks for being the best Ruffles ever, because he was really fantastic c:………………………………………:|||||||

ejifeioghsiohg thanks Official-Stalker-chan :3

Due to my recent inactivity, I am hereby relinquishing Rufus’s spot in FFTumblr. I do not wish to hog the privileged post any longer.

It has been a great one-year stay. You guys are great, and are a big help.

An entirely valid perspective. It is the burden of the great people to shoulder everything the masses cannot, be it power or responsibility, even blame. One might even go so far as to call it the pride of the great ones. I wonder, though. The other side of the coin, that of the rumormonger sleeping soundly, does seem to have the better part of the bargain sometimes.

[chuckles lowly] Indeed, it does… I wonder, when was the last time you got a full night’s worth of sleep, Mr. President? Great ones though we may be… I, for one, do not recall.

A few days ago, if I remember correctly. Things had gone rather smoothly lately. But, yes, I see the point. Sleep… hn. It would be much better if we are allowed that, too. But I suppose we cannot have everything.

Failures? No, the experiments were, unfortunately, successful. Terribly so. Sephiroth was the crowning glory of the old Science Department. The product of the JENOVA Project, the ultimate SOLDIER. Well, so he was until he learned of the procedures that made him. He has been the world’s enemy ever since.

Interesting. Our company has more or less kept an age limit for recruits—barring the Department of Administrative Research, which is a special case—so we wouldn’t have any data on such a matter. Forgive me for saying so, but the idea of bringing cadets and children into the front seems rather desperate.

…What were the procedures? What set him off?

Normally, we don’t send them into battle until after graduation at ages eighteen to twenty, but Class Zero…well, they’ve always been special in comparison to the others.

My father made sure the details were kept as highly classified information, so I—who was only Vice President at the time—only know the basic idea. Sephiroth, as a fetus, was injected with cells from an entity known as JENOVA, then believed to be an Ancient. A super-race, if you will. Little did the Science Department know that JENOVA was… something else entirely. A calamity from the skies. Well, that was the beginning of the end.

And I see. So Class Zero is sent into the field though they are underage? The exigencies of war notwithstanding, isn’t it a better idea to wait until they are of age, and have accumulated more battle knowledge and experience?

Hmph. Duty is a thankless task, after all. Those Shin-Ra troopers who died at Wutai, those Wutaians killed in battle, and even those who perished fighting for AVALANCHE, old and new—they did well, but they suffer a fate worse than bad reputations. The price of doing what must be done is steep. I guess it cannot be helped. All that remains is to do one’s duty, nevertheless. A little sad, really.

Makes the price of duty a challenging one to fulfill. Yet, ‘tis required— and those who can afford its consequences, its thanklessness, its… reputations that are inevitably created, still remain above those who whisper the rumors in low voices yet sleep safely at night. At least… [shrugs her shoulders slightly] That is how I try to look at it: even if they do not know that what I do, I do for them, their lives remain uninterrupted… at the cost of my actions against those who wish to interrupt them.

Oh? You flatter me, Beatrix. I only ever did what anyone in my shoes would do. Though I suppose there’s some truth in that. I did do some pretty… ah… foolhardy things, after all.

Then, as we both must know, if not simply from experience, flattery is not always in hand with reputation. I would like to be known as a strong knight, indeed, remembered for my duty but… alas, the realities of my actions lead to only dwindle down into rumors. I do not admire my reputation.

Be that as it may, I find that a reputation, more often than not, precedes the person. And the masses being easily stirred by emotions such as fear, they are rather quick on the uptake when characters with such weighty names come along. Not that I blame the people, nor the reputed “cold-blooded” ones. Natural progression, I suppose.

[arches brow] You speak from experience, I imagine, Mr. President? Of all the reputations that would gather force and travel beyond comprehended radius, yours truly must go beyond bounds.

Interesting epithet, General. I can only dimly imagine the awe you inspire upon the other nations.

As far as specifics go, I am only aware of one race of my world that still harbor… well-founded dark opinions of me. [shakes her head] Beyond Alexandria, however, of the rest of my Gaia… let alone any worlds beyond it, such as where you come from… I doubt my presence creates such a stir, barring it does not surprise one to see a one-eyed woman armed with a sword.

Fact #6: Because of her incredible power, Beatrix is often called “The cold-blooded woman who silences even the crying infant.”

…another title I was unaware I had earned. [flicks hair over her shoulder, smiling wryly] No wonder potential mates are not knocking down my door…

Settling in nicely? I cannot vouch for everyone, of course, but there are good people about here. And I am certain you’d find some of your friends here, too.

I’d say I’m getting used to things for the most part, yes. But coming from another time period is a bit…harsh — espcially when you’ve gotta play catch up and learn how a whole new society works. [/his eyes widen at the mention of his companions] My…friends? So you know them? Or, do they know you?

Another time period? Well, that’s something uncommon, though not unheard of. As to your friends… sadly, no, I have no idea who your friends are. I merely took a guess, as most people, upon arriving, find their friends were already here before them. But I dare say you’ll find them in no time. Of course, if you’d tell us something about you, we here might be able to help.
